As a professional educator with a passion for health and wellness, I blended my two loves together to found Vitality with Vanessa LLC.
To achieve vitality by my definition, it's important to consider the whole person. Imagine you are exhausted - the kind of tired where you have nothing left to give. Sure, you may not be sleeping a full eight hours every night, but exhaustion comes from many things we don't realize. Are you setting boundaries that support healthy stress levels? Are you eating nutritious foods that fuel your brain? Have you connected with friends that make you feel energized?
These are examples of underlying root causes that exasperate a surface level challenge. In our work together, you'll identify barriers and take steps to change multiple areas of your life. You'll utilize your strenghts to replace past behaviors that no longer serve you, ultimately building vitality into your day to day lifestyle.
I don't just call myself a coach - I have coaching certifications from the board-accredited, Integrative Women's Health Institute. Coaching is a skillset - not a self-proclaimed title. While my certifications are in Holistic Women's Health Coaching and Functional Nutrition Coaching - I'm still a great fit for men too! I currently support a men's weight loss program through Man v Fat.
I'm professionally trained in behavior change, with eight years of experience in goal-based curriculum development and universal design for learning approaches - so I know how to reach ALL types of thinkers. The education I provide is digestible, accessible, and most importantly - personalized for your needs, on your own terms.
With personal experience in complex health journeys - I know what it is like to feel overwhelmed and confused when your doctor tells you to "eat better, sleep more, and manage your stress" without giving you any time to discuss what this could possibly look like. I do the exact opposite of this, providing clear guidance and bringing forth the path you want to follow to achieve vitality.
I bring a wealth of knowledge and positive energy that will help find the glimmer in even the most challenging coaching sessions.

Yes! If you are selecting a program that takes place over the course of 3+ months, there is an option to pay on a monthly basis.
Yes! Pricing is reflected to showcase the value of what you are receiving. My dedication to you lasts beyond our session time. When you work with me, you not only have 45-minutes of one-on-one or small group attention, but you also have me working behind the scenes. In between sessions, I analyze your data, building personalized resources, and staying up-to-date with current research to give you the most bang-for-your-buck.
With that being said, I understand that coaching may not be in everyone's reach. If you have reflected on your finances and do not have the budget for the prices shown on my website, please schedule a discovery call and we can discuss some options.
Coaching is a SKILL that people are professionally trained to do. It is not some title that can be slapped onto an Instagram profile and change your life with 5 easy steps.
Coaching is a behavior change process of questioning and reflecting to understand the deepest parts of yourself, realize your stregnths, and make the changes you wish to see in yourself. A health coach, according to the National Board of Health and Wellness Coaches (NBHWC), is a trained professional that has general background knowledge of common health conditions, the domains of health, and is versed in behavior change methodology.
The health coach can provide evidence-based education from nationally recognized authorities, behavior change strategies, and support the implementation of prescribed guidance to lead to positive health outcomes. You may find out more on the NBHWC website.
A therapist is a healthcare professional that can diagnose and treat mental health disorders. Similar to how some therapists run their practice, a coach's job is to ask insightful, thought-provoking questions that support behavior change through reflection, accountability, and science-backed decisions. While there are many things we can work on together, I refer out to therapists if there may be a need for more clinical intervention.
A dietitian is a trained professional can prescribe guidance that address medical conditions and lead to clinically significant health changes. A coach uses this guidance to address behavioral change. Essentially, I am addressing the root cause BEHAVIOR to support a shift that leads to feeling in control and on top of your health goals.
According to New York State law, I am able to provide general health education as found on publicly available platforms, such as the American Heart Association, but not specific nutrition information such as personalized macros or prescribing diets to support medical conditions. For example, I can not generate a meal plan to support blood sugar levels or prescribe a specific caloric intake for eating in deficit. I CAN support implementation of plans suggested by your dietitian or PCP, or direct you to resources for self-education and support you implementing changes you wish to make. You can find out more information regarding my scope of practice on the NBHWC website.
My practice is fantastic for those who already have prescribed plans they are trying to implement, have done self-directed research and need to organize their plan of action, or for those want to learn more about general nutrition to support health without the pressures of "you have to follow this plan to perfection".
This is a trick question -- we work TOGETHER. Medical professionals are essential in forming health care plans and should always be consulted. I will never prescribe guidance, as my scope is related to behavior change. There are PHENOMENAL dietitians, doctors, therapists etc. out there, and after years of searching, I have a network of professionals that I love, and will happily refer clients to as needed.
A health coach bridges the gap between health care and health plan implementation. My clients (and I) share unfortunate, yet all too common experiences that illustrate this need:
One is that medical professionals are trained to prescribe lifestyle changes to optimize health, but don't have the training in behavior change that will support you actually implementing their advice. The appointment probably went like this: You started feeling confused during your appointment, after they rattled off ten "simple" things to change. They didn't take the time to get to know strengths that will support your health changes, or habits you need to let go of in order to progress. You tried to make the changes, but weren't able to without the support.
Another is that medical professionals have the skills and truly want to have these deep conversations. At the appointment they tried their best to do so, but have to keep your time together breif due to scheduling. They handed you the pamphlet packed with amazing information and gave words of encouragement. You may have recieved a referal to a dietitian, but your insurance only covers two visits a month - it's not enough to make lasting change. You tried to make the changes, but again, weren't able to without the support.
If you have a phenomenal medical professional in your network, please share their information with me! I am always looking to expand my referral network.
